An Inconvenient Truth
An Inconvenient Truth is a
documentary movie about global warming. The movie is a
presentation of Al Gore, the former Vice President of the
U.S., and was directed by Davis Guggenheim. The movie was
released on 2006.
Gore, who decided after his defeat in 2000 elections to focus
on climate change, began back then his personal crusade, traveling
the globe with a computer slideshow on global warming ((‘the
traveling global warming show’), educating small crowds,
trying to convince whoever wanted to listen on the dangers
of climate change and the fact that is real. Very real.
The slideshow he used for these presentations around the
world is the base for the movie. It all began when Hollywood
producer Laurie David went to one of these presentations and
succeeded later to convince Gore to make a personal documentary
based on the slideshow. And the rest as they say is history..
The movie was very successful, won many prizes (including
the Oscar for the best documentary film on 2006) and led the
way for Gore to win the Nobel Peace Prize on 2007. But maybe
more important than that, it is considered to be a change
agent that was one of the most significant forces, if not
the most significant one, to end the debate on whether global
warming is real or not. It also made many people realize the
urgency of the change that is required in order to fight climate
change and secure our future on the planet.
Our
recommendation:
An Inconvenient Truth is not only about
convincing us about the threats of global warming, but also
about the need to take action and green up our lifestyle.
